Letter to developers at Planning Expo

Concerned residents have today welcomed developers participating in Plannex - the Planning, Development & Investment Expo in which Frank Sartor is the key-note speaker. Robert Domm, CEO of the RWA is expected to present the Built Environment Plan to developers attracting their investment.

Residents felt it is important for developers to be aware of some issues arising out of the proposed plan, which might make them reconsider investing in the plan in its current format. In the letter, developers are encouraged to demand from the RWA a revised, well considered plan, backed by necessary studies to create a better Redfern Waterloo for residents and a healthy developmental framework.

    I am writing this to support the outcries being made by so many people in the area of Marian Park. I fully realize that I am not a resident, and it was at first with trepidation that I supported the purchase of a ‘first home’ residence in a block of very fine Units named “Ariane”, made by my daughter and her partner.

    The trepidation was for their moving into a suburb which at this moment has NOT got the finest of ‘NAMES’ or ‘REPUTATIONS’ thanks to strange publicity for the area. This is of course World Wide knowledge, but upon seeing the immediate area that they are in, meeting the co-residents, going to the shops, and chatting with residents of surrounding Unit Blocks and Terrace Houses and Cafes, my entire opinion has changed. I am now supporting the area with all my heart.

    One of the ‘saving graces’ of the area would have to be Marian Park. It is not the biggest of parks, but it is a respite, a relief, a sanctuary for surrounding, NON-GARDENED residentials. It has the grass and the trees, and with a little bit of work could be a flowered safe haven for birds, small animals, and the most important of all, the surrounding people.

    Your ideas for the rest of your area are divine, please do not let this debarcle take place all for the sake of ‘the mighty dollar’
