IT’S JUST LIKE RAILWAY SQUARE….. what the ????
I have just returned from one of the information sessions at the TNT tower. I was outraged at some of the responses I received when voicing my concerns about proposed development focused around Redfern station.

My main concern in keeping with the website is of course Marian Park. I have a broader concern about what I perceive to be generally an inappropriate development plan for Redfern. Plonking great big 18 storey towers (regardless of tiered or otherwise) is not appropriate for the healthy sustainment of the multicultural community that lives around the station, nor would it be welcoming for people visiting Redfern.

When voicing my many concerns, repeatedly I must say, at one point the representative of the Redfern/Waterloo Authority (a supposedly informed planner) responded “it’s just like Railway Square really” in terms of necessary development. You couldn’t find a more inappropriate comparison if you tried. It really consolidated my belief that the current proposed development for Redfern lacks any consideration for the existing community here at all.

We have to fight against the extent of this development !!

Robert Domm
Been and gone
But left us none the wiser

With language bold
The tale was told
That changes will be made

Alas, on pressed
He just finessed
And forced the folks to wonder

Will Mighty Man
Transcend the plan
And save the park for Redfern

We cannot wait
To see our fate
Act now, communicate your message

With words of wit
And fighting grit
Let's send submissions winging

With message stark
Preserve the park
So all enjoy its future

With apologies to William McGonagall
